Bryan has a Masters in Natural Resource Management from Simon Fraser University and a Bachelor of Commerce in Finance (Honours) from UBC. Since joining Dovetail in 1995, Bryan has worked on a wide variety of projects for the provincial and federal governments, First Nations, non-profit groups, and the private sector. His primary interest is community-based land use planning and natural resource management; in particular, helping local communities apply a land ethic to contemporary land use challenges.  Bryan is known as a proficient planner, researcher, writer and facilitator.

Bryan lives in Vancouver with his son Kieran and his partner, Tomalene. He is an avid runner in the city, but enjoys the backcountry most, where he pursues a passionate interest in nature photography and telemark skiing. Bryan has served on numerous non-profit boards for over 20 years. He is the past President of the Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society, BC Chapter, and past Vice Chair, Alpine Club of Canada, Vancouver Section.
